Leogane Update

Tim is back and it is really good to have him back and safe! First of all, I want to update you all that my team and I from Freshwater Church are still going down to Leogane from March 11-21. We booked the tickets today! It is going to be rough, but we are going to be busy bees while we are there, working with the people in Leogane and OLTCH. Please pray though that God reveals exactly what we should do and who we should help.

Here is an update on what is going on down in Haiti. (From Tim) They still needs lots of prayer and hands to get down there!

Leogane:
1. 50% of citizens lost their main source of income
2. The entire area is a high risk of a major cholera outbreak that could take 100's of lives
3. 90% of churches will need to be completely rebuilt
4. 90% of schools will need to be completely rebuilt
5. 90% of orphanages will need to be completely rebuilt

Church (Lott-Carey Church-in Leogane)
1. Pastor Hendricks #1 concern is to help is congregation find food, water and shelter
2. Churches lost 50-75% of their indigenous income
3. Church and school structure is a complete loss
4. 3-10% of the congregation died in the earthquake
5. 75% of the congregation are now living in tents/shacks

OLTCH:
1. Physical health- no traumatic injury. Early on some minor infections and dehydration. Currently, all are physically doing very well. They have full access to all medical needed.
2. Mental health- Greg, Jasmine and the Nanny's are all at moderate to high risk of suffereing from PTSD or major depression. Some of the older children have a low to moderate risk of this happening. This "camping" trip is getting old fast and they are running out of steam!
3. Building is not inhabitable and they will be moving shortly.
4. Car is dead- no transportation at all!

Nursing School:
1. Confirmed that 3 students died who were at home
2. 30% of nursing students lost their home
3. Building is damaged but usable. Dorms/guest house undamaged.
4. The nursing school is the only fully operational health care provider that is Haitian. All other Haitian provider facilities in Leogane were damaged to the point they can no longer function.
5. Financially, the nursing school is donig very well because of the outpouring of support
